Experience Details
Join Tomokita, a certified Japanese cooking instructor, for a scenic nature walk in Setagaya, Tokyo. Following this, walk to her home cooking studio for a maki sushi cooking class! Tomokita, a certified cooking instructor, blends her rich international living experience, a decade in Thailand, and five years in Mexico, to create a diverse culinary journey. Her pioneering spirit led to her first cooking class in Mexico, offering instructions in Japanese, Thai, Chinese, and Korean cuisines, catering to the global palate. With 15 years of expatriate life, Tomokita recognizes cooking as a universal intercultural language. Nature walk: Embarking on this adventure begins with a rendezvous at Todoroki Station, where you'll meet your host. From there, you'll embark on a tranquil journey into a beautiful green area. Tomikita-san used to take guests to the Todoroki Valley, a verdant oasis that boasts lush foliage, majestic bamboo groves, hidden shrines, and meandering riverbanks. Since the valley is temporarily closed, she now opts for another nature walk through beautiful Japanese gardens in the area. Maki sushi cooking class: Maki (rolled) sushi consists of seasoned rice and various fresh ingredients rolled within nori seaweed. These delectable sushi rolls are typically filled with fish and vegetables, however, they’re easily customized to suit a range of palates. After a class introduction, it’s time to activate chef mode to make your maki sushi rolls! Enjoy the fruits of your labor once you’ve mastered your maki sushi. Along with your handmade maki sushi, Tomokita has prepared two seasonal vegetable appetizers using homegrown ingredients! What about dessert? Well, there’s a variety of sweet choices on offer, including matcha jelly, matcha ice cream, and matcha cake. Wash it all down with homemade umeshu (plum wine).
