I hesitated at first because of the price but I can say that it is totally worth it! I was alone so I got a private workshop.
Yuko has excellent English and her explanations were simple and interesting. she was patient, professional and kind. and I learned a lot about Japanese sweets and through them about Japanese culture. In addition, I experienced making delicious matcha. Highly recommend!

Nerikiri and Mochi Wagashi Making Class in Bunkyo, Tokyo
Cooking Classes
Aya was a wonderful instructor and patiently explained the history and significance of the tea ceremony in Japanese culture. After first illustrating the process Aya then gave us my wife and I the opportunity to prepare tea for each other which was a great experience.
After the ceremony was concluded we noticed a wall full of tea bowls which Aya allowed us to purchase from and it was comforting to know we could go home with a high quality souvenir from local craftsmen.

Kyoto Tea Ceremony and Sweets Experience
Food Tours
Our class on Japanese sweets was an exceptional journey. The teachers expertly guided us through the history and techniques of making mochi, dango, and nerikiri. Their passion for their craft was evident as they took the time to ensure everyone understood each step, accommodating my non-English speaking mom beautifully. It was much more than just a cooking class; it was a cultural immersion that brought our family together in a very special way.
Crafting these sweets was a delight. Each creation was not only delicious but visually stunning. The instructors' dedication to detail and their warm, engaging teaching style made the whole experience enjoyable. We not only learned how to make these sweets but also gained an appreciation for the culture and traditions behind them.
This class was an unforgettable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone interested in exploring a unique culinary art and spending a meaningful day with loved ones. It's a perfect blend of education, hands-on fun, and cultural appreciation.

Ultimate Shizuoka Tea Tour with Tea Farm and Cafe Tour
Food Tours
My friend and I visited the Obubu tea farm in May 2024. We were staying in Kyoto, so it took about 2 hrs of public transport to reach the farm. It was nice to get put of the city and spend time in a lush and rural environment.
I particularly enjoyed the visit to the tea fields and the tastings after lunch.
It might be a good idea to have either a microphone or some other device while touring the factory, since the machines were so very loud, I didn’t hear a word ☹️
